Julian trained at Anglia Polytechnic University in Cambridge.

Theatre credits as Musical Director include: The Sound Of Music (Cyprus), The Music of Dirty Dancing (International Tour), National Music Day (BBC Radio 2), Grease (UK Tour), The Best of the West End (Linkoping, Sweden), The Magic of the Musicals (UK tour), Peter Pan (Woking), Birmingham Live’95 (BBC Radio 2). As Assistant Musical Director: Footloose (Novello), Grease (Victoria Palace and tour of Japan), Saturday Night Fever (Asian Tour). As Musical Supervisor: You Don’t Bring Me Flowers (European Tour), Lanza - The Last Serenade (album), Musical Magic (UK tour and album), Manhattan Nights (UK tour, live album/DVD). On drums/percussion his has played on numerous shows including Monty Python's Spamalot (Palace), Guys and Dolls (Jersey Opera House), West Side Story (UK Tour), Chicago (Cambridge), and Hairspray (Shaftesbury).

On television he has Musically Supervised Mobile Lives for BBC 2, Tidal Rave for YoYo Media, and has written incidental music and jingles for a number of companies, including music for the game 'Hitman - Blood Money’, released Worldwide on PS2/Xbox/PC. His extensive arranging work includes Queer as Folk (US), and orchestrations for the Birmingham Schools Symphony Orchestra and the Anglia Chamber Choir. Work in the recording studio includes the orchestral conductor/arranger for the rock band Elevated on their debut album in Italy, and co-write on the album Caldo-Freddo by Airbiscuit in the UK.

Julian is also the Director for JPR Productions Ltd, a diverse production company in the entertainment industry specialising in Music and Artist Promotion, Theatre development and Production, Musical Consultancy, and General Management.
